IWI Jericho 941 Review: Classic Steel, Modern Confidence
I’ve got a soft spot for heavy, all-steel DA/SA pistols that run like sewing machines and soak up recoil. The IWI Jericho 941 is exactly that kind of pistol. It’s a CZ-75-pattern gun with Israeli attitude: frame-mounted safety, good sights, plenty of heft, and a recoil impulse that feels like it’s been sanded smooth. After multiple range days, a few drills that punish bad ergonomics, and a diet of mixed-weight 9 mm, the Jericho proved easy to shoot well and easier to trust.
What it is (and why it shoots so flat)
The current full-size steel Jericho 941 F9 runs a 4.4-inch barrel, 16-round magazines, adjustable sights, and a frame-mounted safety that allows Condition One carry. Mid-size steel versions keep the same 16-round capacity with a 3.8-inch barrel. Barrels are button-rifled with a nitride finish, and the specs put the gun in the 36-37 oz zone unloaded, which is a big reason it tracks flat in rapid strings. MSRP for both steel models has been listed around the mid-$600s.
Ergonomically, this is the “right” side of the Jericho family tree: frame-mounted safety instead of the old slide lever/decocker. That matters if you like a consistent thumb sweep and 1911-style habits.
On the range: accuracy, recoil, reliability
The weight and low bore axis make the Jericho one of the softer-shooting service-size 9 mms in this bracket. Reviewers have called out the comfortable grip and easy follow-ups; my experience mirrors that, especially with 124- and 147-grain loads. In extended tests, American Rifleman noted smooth follow-up shots with no malfunctions through mixed ammo, which tracks with what I’ve seen: it just runs.
Value and real-world pricing
Street prices commonly land below MSRP. Recent retailer snapshots show steel and polymer Jericho variants in the low-to-mid-$500s, which is aggressive for an all-steel DA/SA pistol. If you want a full-size steel gun without CZ-tier pricing, this is the appeal.
Small knocks
It’s heavy. That’s the point on the line, but it’s not a featherweight carry gun. Aftermarket depth isn’t Glock-level either, though the essentials (holsters, mags, sights) are covered. Reviewers consistently praise the shootability while noting the weight and smaller ecosystem.
How it stacks up in the same price lane
CZ 75 B (all-steel DA/SA)
Legendary ergonomics, cold-hammer-forged barrel, similar size, and manual safety setup. The catch: MSRP hovers around $899, so you’re usually paying more than the Jericho for the classic Czech original. If you want the 75 feel for less money, the Jericho is the budget-friendlier steel choice.
CZ P-07 (polymer DA/SA, Omega system)
Roughly $490-$580 street, lighter by nearly 8-10 oz, and ships with the Omega trigger that lets you run a decocker or safety. Great if you want DA/SA manners in a lighter, more carry-friendly package. The Jericho wins on recoil softness and that planted steel feel; the P-07 wins on weight and modularity.
Beretta 92FS / 92 family (alloy DA/SA)
Another smooth, proven full-size with a different vibe: open-slide, locking-block action, and slide-mounted safety/decocker. Starting from prices on current 92FS variants typically begin around $799-$929 at the factory store, so you’re usually spending more than a Jericho. If you prefer slide-mounted controls and that classic Beretta cycling feel, the 92 is fantastic; if you like frame-mounted controls and CZ-style ergonomics, the Jericho hits the value sweet spot.
Who should buy it
Range shooters and steel-gun fans who want a soft-shooting DA/SA that rewards good fundamentals.
Home-defense users who value controllability and a frame-mounted safety.
Students of the CZ-pattern who want the feel without the CZ 75 B price.
Set it up with quality 16-round magazines, a sturdy holster, and a bright set of sights, and you’ve got a confident, boringly reliable pistol that punches above its price.
